This Drupal-based site was developed to manage the entire qualification process for the ITB Buyers Circle, the network for top travel industry buyers. It provides a dedicated environment to handle applicant volume efficiently and verify participants precisely.
The decision to use Drupal for this process was based on its role and permission system, which allows the verification workflows and API-supported integrations to be mapped securely and transparently.
Role Management for Three Key User Groups
The system differentiates access rights for the three main stakeholders to ensure a clear separation of responsibilities:
- Applicants (Buyers): Prospective members – leading buyers within the travel industry – use a structured application system to provide proof of their qualifications. A protected area allows this group to update their data and monitor their application status. Once successfully verified, they receive their ticket and all relevant information regarding the Buyers Circle automatically via an API interface.
- Messe Berlin GmbH (Verification Authority): Messe Berlin GmbH uses the site for the review and professional evaluation of applications. Through a moderation dashboard, applications are finalized and verified to ensure the high quality standards of the Buyers Circle are maintained.
- Event Agency (System Management): The supporting agency manages the site from a technical and administrative perspective. They handle configuration, monitor data imports, and ensure the smooth operation of workflows and the management of applicant data.
Automation and Security
Through API interfaces and data migrations, data remains consistent between the qualification site and the ticketing system. The architecture is designed for stability even during peak traffic periods.
The permission system ensures that access to sensitive business data remains role-based, while all decisions within the verification process are documented and traceable for Messe Berlin.
